getoverthesun ^I have a new journal. Yep, I copied Kate. Check it out and add me to your friends list. Court, Kate, Kirsty and Lissy, you're already on my friends list so you'll be able to see my new entries at getoverthesun, but I won't be able to read yours until you add me as a friend.
I'll kinda miss personal_square, but I hope getoverthesun will be a little more organized. :)

| Writer's Block: The Best Thing You've Done |
[July 06, 2008] |
It will sound corny, but honestly I think the best thing I've ever done is to put my faith in God and to believe and be saved. I can't imagine how different my life would have been if I hadn't been saved years ago.
In other news, Kate and I are getting up in a few hours to head back home. We just got back to our aunt's house this evening. Before then we were in the mountains. I had so much fun. I'm going to miss everyone. I'll try and post some pictures in the next few days of this week. :)

Max seems to be getting worse. I'm taking him to the vet as soon as they open tomorrow. I'm really worried about him. His eyes are red, the folds of his face are getting gunky and a little swollen looking, he's licking his nose and rubbing his face on stuff but won't let me clean it, he's breathing hard and very sleepy. He's my baby, he's just such a happy sweet little guy, so I'm really really worried. Any prayers would be appreciated. Thanks.

Please say a prayer for Steven Curtis Chapman's family. His 5 year old daughter was killed when she was hit by a truck her brother was driving. She turned 5 just a few days ago, and this happened on the day that the family was celebrating their oldest daughter's engagement and were hours away from having a graduation party for one of their sons. I can't imagine what they must be going through, especially the son who was driving when the accident happened.
The Lord is close to the broken hearted and and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18

Can't Get Away - Rush of Fools |
] |
So often we forget God's wonderful love, which is the foundation of faith in God. We get so caught up in sin and the world and in this idea that we can earn our way to salvation, which is impossible. Then, when we realize that we have not been or cannot be good enough, we get caught in despair, or we chose to push God away. We forget that we cannot be good enough, but that God's glorious love is enough to save us despite this. Does that mean that we should stop doing good because we can never be good enough? No, but it means that we should do good out of love and thankfulness for God's love for us, and not because we are trying to earn His love. We cannot earn His love, but the amazing thing is He gives it to us anyways. Praise be to God!
God loves you just as you are, no matter what you have done or thought or will do, He loves you with a love greater than any we could ever imagine.
Romans 5:6-8 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
1 Thessalonians 5:9-10 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us that whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with Him. Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works so that no one can boast.

Yes, a 3rd entry for the day! lol I just wanted to share, I was reading Zephaniah, chapter 3. I honestly didn't even know there was a book in the Bible called Zephaniah. I may have read from it before and just forgot the name, not sure, but the quote at biblegateway.com for May 16 was Zephaniah 3:17 which says:
17 The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.
Anyway, I really loved this quote. So much of God is His love for us. I thought the rest of the chapter was interesting too, so I decided to post it for anyone who's interested. :)
The Future of Jerusalem 1 Woe to the city of oppressors, rebellious and defiled!
2 She obeys no one, she accepts no correction. She does not trust in the LORD, she does not draw near to her God.
3 Her officials are roaring lions, her rulers are evening wolves, who leave nothing for the morning.
4 Her prophets are arrogant; they are treacherous men. Her priests profane the sanctuary and do violence to the law.
5 The LORD within her is righteous; he does no wrong. Morning by morning he dispenses his justice, and every new day he does not fail, yet the unrighteous know no shame.
6 "I have cut off nations; their strongholds are demolished. I have left their streets deserted, with no one passing through. Their cities are destroyed; no one will be left—no one at all.
7 I said to the city, 'Surely you will fear me and accept correction!' Then her dwelling would not be cut off, nor all my punishments come upon her. But they were still eager to act corruptly in all they did.
8 Therefore wait for me," declares the LORD, "for the day I will stand up to testify. [a] I have decided to assemble the nations, to gather the kingdoms and to pour out my wrath on them— all my fierce anger. The whole world will be consumed by the fire of my jealous anger.
9 "Then will I purify the lips of the peoples, that all of them may call on the name of the LORD and serve him shoulder to shoulder.
10 From beyond the rivers of Cush [b] my worshipers, my scattered people, will bring me offerings.
11 On that day you will not be put to shame for all the wrongs you have done to me, because I will remove from this city those who rejoice in their pride. Never again will you be haughty on my holy hill.
12 But I will leave within you the meek and humble, who trust in the name of the LORD.
13 The remnant of Israel will do no wrong; they will speak no lies, nor will deceit be found in their mouths. They will eat and lie down and no one will make them afraid."
14 Sing, O Daughter of Zion; shout aloud, O Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, O Daughter of Jerusalem!
15 The LORD has taken away your punishment, he has turned back your enemy. The LORD, the King of Israel, is with you; never again will you fear any harm.
16 On that day they will say to Jerusalem, "Do not fear, O Zion; do not let your hands hang limp.
17 The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."
18 "The sorrows for the appointed feasts I will remove from you; they are a burden and a reproach to you. [c]
19 At that time I will deal with all who oppressed you; I will rescue the lame and gather those who have been scattered. I will give them praise and honor in every land where they were put to shame.
20 At that time I will gather you; at that time I will bring you home. I will give you honor and praise among all the peoples of the earth when I restore your fortunes [d] before your very eyes,"

Not really. I believe in the possibility of energy hanging around, kind of replaying things. But ghosts in the sense that after we die some people just hang around and haunt? Not so much. I do believe that angels and demons exist though. I don't totally rule out the idea of ghosts, because anything is possible and I don't claim to understand how God works, but I think that there is an alternative explanation to a lot of "ghost sightings". That said, I do enjoy watching Ghost Hunters on the Sci-fi channel, but part of the reason I love watching them is that they try to rule out any alternative explanations when they come across phenomena.
In other news, I'm reviving my attempt at my 365 project, where I take a pic everyday. I am on day 2, lol. You can still find it at http://www.personalsquare.vox.com.
Oooh, and I just visited Leeland's myspace page and it looks like they have a new cd out!! I really hope I get an itunes card(asked my mom for one) for my birthday so I can get their cd. They is awesomeness. Wow, my birthday is only 12 days away. That is craziness. I will be 24 in less than two weeks.

Check out branchnesss(lj community) for some awesome Singin' in Korean icons, lol.
I am still all that is lazyness. I got an online quiz done, but hae yet to do an assignment where I have to find a journal entry and write a discussion post on it.
We did not go out on the boat today because it was supposed to be over cast. It's also cold outside! We have the windows open, so it's nice since we've had to run the a/c the last couple of weeks, though I'm also feeling like an unproductive bum since I haven't left the house all weekend. I have no money though, so there's really no where for me to go to get out of the house, plus I should really get school work done anyway. I'm off to try to force myself to do some school work.
[edit] Still procrastinating, though I'm about to work on an assignment. Just gotta say, this video is an example of why Imogen Heap(also the singer from Frou Frou) is so awesome. She really needs to come out with a new album since I've listened to her current ones too many times already.

Oh my goodness, I loooove this video!
Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, played the lead guy in one of Kate and I's favorite Korean dramas, Full House. He is so cute and an awesome actor, so I was really surprised when I was watching The Colbert Report and saw Steven Colbert mention him, and then to see Colbert's Korean music video, too funny to describe!

I am feeling so lazy today. I was lazy yesterday too. I should go online to my online classes and check for work, but I think I will put it off until tomorrow. I'm listening to a song that I didn't even realize I had in my itunes library, lol. It's has beautiful lyrics, makes me happy. It's called I Am by Bebo Norman. I'm off to either listen to music and poke around online or to watch 18 vs. 29 on mysoju.com

Tegan and Sara came out with a new cd in 2007. Why did I not know this? They are awesomeness. I also just found out that they are identical twins, which is pretty awesome too. :)
Also, if you've never heard of Hawk Nelson, they're pretty good:
I also like this Building 429 video:
And I loooove Toby Mac. This song is really upbeat. He's kinda a mix of pop/rock and rap.

Happy Easter Everyone! I saw this posted in another journal and thought I'd share: STILL HE WALKED
He could hear the crowds screaming "crucify" "crucify"... He could hear the hatred in their voices, These were his chosen people. He loved them, And they were going to crucify him. He was beaten, bleeding and weakened... his heart was broken, But still He walked.
He could see the crowd as he came from the palace. He knew each of the faces so well. He had created them. He knew every smile, laugh, and shed tear, But now they were contorted with rage and anger...his heart broke, But still He walked.
Was he scared? You and I would have been So his humanness would have mandated that he was. He felt alone. His disciples had left, denied, and even betrayed him. He searched the crowd for a loving face and he saw very few. Then he turned his eyes to the only one that mattered And he knew that he would never be alone. He looked back at the crowd, at the people who were spitting At him, throwing rocks at him and mocking him and he knew That because of him, they would never be alone. So for them, He walked.
The sounds of the hammer striking the spikes echoed through The crowd. The sounds of his cries echoed even louder, The cheers of the crowd, as his hands and feet Were nailed to the cross, intensified with each blow. Loudest of all was the still small voice inside his Heart that whispered "I am with you, my son", And God's heart broke. He had let his son walk.
Jesus could have asked God to end his suffering, But instead he asked God to forgive. Not to forgive him, but to forgive the ones who were persecuting him. As he hung on that cross, dying an unimaginable death, He looked out and saw, not only the faces in the crowd, But also, the face of every person yet to be, And his heart filled with love. As his body was dying, his heart was alive. Alive with the limitless, unconditional love he feels for each of us. That is why He walked.
When I forget how much My God loves me, I remember his walk. When I wonder if I can be forgiven, I remember his walk. When I need reminded of how to live like Christ, I think of his walk. And to show him how much I love him, I wake up each morning, turn my eyes to him, And I walk.

Luke 24:5-7 5In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' "

So, I didn't watch the first 5 seasons of American Idol, but I watched it last season and I've been watching it this season. If you haven't watched it, oh my goodness but this kid David Archuleta is just the most adorable absolutely amazing singer ever. His voice is amazing, especially on the John Lennon song he sang tonight. Once someone puts it on Youtube I am totally posting it, lol. Besides having an amazing voice for a 17 year old, he's just so adorable! lol If you haven't seen the show, here's a video of him singing. The video isn't from the show, I found it on youtube, it may be just him singing at home, don't know.

Beg - Shane and Shane |
] |
One of my favorite bands is now Shane and Shane. I downloaded three of their songs with what was left of my itunes giftcard from Christmas. Their music is awesomeness. I love the songs Holiday and Beg(the acoustic version) by them. I saw them singing Holiday on some talk show, and went to itunes right away, lol. They might not appeal to everyone, depending on your style of music, but I really like something about their style of music.
At the moment Tonks, my hamster, is running a mile a minute in her wheel, which is very squeaky. Thank goodness for earplugs, or she would be forever banished from my room! lol
In other news, I've been trying to do more school work, but I've still been falling behind a bit. Yesterday I made a calendar and wrote down all my assignment's due dates for the rest of the semester, so maybe that will help me stay on top of things.
I hope everyone else is having a really good week so far.

Got my hair cut today, though it's not a dramatic change like Kate's hair, which I looooove. I want bangs now. And I love her hair style. Our face shapes are a bit different, so I'm not sure if it'd look as good on me though. Yeah, and my hair was just long enough to qualify as long hair, so they charged me ten extra dollars for the shampoo, cut and blowdry. That's okay though. I'll try and post a pic tomorrow. I just have a few extra layers, otherwise it's similar to what I had.
Tonight we went to Pleasure Island with Amber. Went in 5 of the clubs. The comedy club was really funny, and we spent most of our time in the top 40 club, not sure if that's the real name, but they play top 40 music videos. I actually went on the dance floor, which I didn't think I'd do. The people were, interesting... At the first club there were some older couples out on the floor. It was a little disturbing to see people in their late 50's/early 60's practically grinding on the dance floor. At another club a guy tapped my arm as I walked by and held his arms out for a hug, which he did not get. At the top 40 club got asked to dance but said no thanks because I couldn't understand what the guy was saying at first, would have said no thanks anyway because I can't dance really. A kind of, um, unique dancer who was dressed kind of like the guys on miami vice was dancing about 8 feet from us. I accidentally made eye contact and suddenly he was dancing right next to us. Got my foot stepped on by another guy who kept bumping in to us when he was trying to break out some dance moves, he apologized though. Saw a lot of people on the floor who were dancing pretty much like I was, lol. There were a few good dancers though.
In just a few hours I'm supposed to get up so that we can go down to one of the water parks, though we may head to Disney Quest if it's too chilly. So, I'd better go off to bed.
Oh, biblegateway's verse of the day is from 1 Corinthians 13, which I think is a really beautiful chapter, so I thought I'd share it. It's what my icon is from: 1 Corinthians 13 Love 1If I speak in the tongues[a] of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,[b] but have not love, I gain nothing.
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. Accidentally made eye contact with a very enthusastic dancer who was dressed kinda like someone off Miami Vice, and he danced over to us.

Tomorrow will be a loooong day. We have class in the morning, then I'm going to work at Volusia Pines, then to the Y to do payments, then to the biggest loser challenge, then to Susan's(our boss's boss) church to work in the nursery until 11:45. So I'll be out of the house pretty much from 8 to 11:45, unless I get time to stop in in between class and work.
Today was our second weight watchers meeting. I'm down 4.4 lbs. When I started trying to eat better 4 weeks ago I was 179.5, and today I'm 167.5. So, that's pretty good. I'm mostly happy about the fact that I'm working out more and the health benefits of that, though this week I've fallen a bit behind on that. Still, I did work out a little this week, which is better than previously, when I didn't work out at all, lol.
That's about it. Oh, and on biblegateway.com I really like the verse they posted as their daily verse and just wanted to share it, because I think a lot of times people think that it's okay to be rude or negative to people you don't like or people who are negative to you, and I really like what this verse says: "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”- Matthew 5:43-45
